I want to wake up next to you
Wrapped around in your arms
Or back to back on the opposite sides of the bed
All I want is to know your presence
I want to wake up smelling coffee
Brewing, while you try to cook breakfast
It’s either burnt or slightly cooked
We opt for toast and marmalade
It’s still somewhat perfect
I want to come home
Unlock the door knowing
On the other side is you
Waiting, sleeping, watching,
Cleaning, cooking or anything mundane
As long as I know you’re there
I want to come home
Knowing you’ll walk out
And come back in
Open arms or a tired face
All we need is the assurance
That we’d still wake up
Knowing there’s no empty space
